Can Humans Learn Hypnosis?

You don’t have to be a Svengali to learn to hypnotize people or delve in the black arts. Hypnosis is a simple process to conquer. Of course, unlike the movies, the hypnotized person won’t necessarily do all your bidding. Particularly if it goes against their morals. Hypnosis is nothing more than a hyper-attention state. You learn to focus your subject’s attention to an altered state of consciousness where they’re highly susceptible to suggestion and very receptive to taking directions.

Learning hypnosis can be easy for almost anyone that wishes to learn. There are simple suggestions you verbalize to a subject and repeat. While most people believe that they’re too smart to be hypnotized, the opposite is often true. The smarter the person is, the more likely they’d be a good candidate for hypnosis. Since it requires the subject to focus intently on the sound of your voice, those of low mental capabilities with short attention spans often don’t succumb to the hypnotist’s words.

Why would you want to learn to hypnotize people? There are several different reasons. Some people want to use the act of hypnosis to become an entertainer. Others understand the power of this ability and find it a useful tool for work in the medical field. Nurses often use hypnosis for a specialty area such as pain management or child birthing.

Some people in the area of education understand that by using hypnosis with children, you can help the learning process tremendously. If a child has problems with a fear of failure on tests, helping that child overcome those fears is simpler when you have the tool of hypnosis available. There are learning techniques that use the relaxed and hyper-attentive state of hypnosis to help students grasp the material faster and more efficiently.

Psychologists, of course can use hypnosis to both delve into their patient’s past and find the cause of fears and phobias or retrain the mind of the patient to be relaxed where they would have panicked otherwise. The tool of hypnosis is powerful for the psychoanalysis process.

What special skill does it take to learn how to hypnotize people? Really none at all. Learning the process requires that you simply use the verbal tools provided by the book, website or instructor. Knowing when and how to use the special talent is also an important part of the learning process. Even though you can’t make someone do something they wouldn’t while not hypnotized, hypnosis is a powerful tool you need to use with discretion. Many of the courses help you by identifying subjects that you shouldn’t hypnotize and steps to take if you find you have a problem. In most instances, however, hypnotizing people has no ill effects.

Learning hypnosis can also lead you into learning self-hypnosis. Self-hypnosis is another tool you can use to make life-altering changes. Both hypnotism and self-hypnosis are tools anyone can learn to help others or yourself accomplish goals that were otherwise too difficult. You can help family members lose weight, quit smoking and overcome anxiety.
